I have kept a journal for over 30 years. I have noticed how it has gone through so many changes along the way. I know it will not be the same 10 years from now. What I do find is that I have been coming over to this site for about 5 years now and this article about Deborah's journals has always given me more inspiration to continue with my writing and my journal. I keep a style very similar to hers, I do not write every day, and I only write about those things that really made impressions on me. I draw, write poems, and have a gratitude list also within the pages of my journals. It's a mixture of many different styles of writing.

It would be nice to know about other journalers who have different styles of keeping their journals too. Thank you for the inspirational article.

I'm wondering what is going to happen to these journals--the future of journals?? I have a friend that makes a 12 X 12 scrapbook--journal every year for her and her husband. Shelves holding 25 journals are in her bedroom--who wants these after they are gone? Her only daughter lives in a small home with her family, so will she want to keep and store these? I am worried about who will want, keep my 20 genealogy notebooks, that I have worked on for my entire life starting as a child?? Just my reflections of the day.

I love how Deborah has all those journals, each one documenting phases of her life. I have four completed journals in total and it's really interesting looking back at them ;)

I wish I didn't have to go to work today. I want to keep exploring....your website is fabulous and this particular piece on journaling is inspirational.
I am going to Ireland in August with my daughter. My mother, sister and boatloads of family live over there AND I AM GOING TO JOURNAL MY EXPERIENCES!

I found your site while searching for 'words of gratitude'.

It just so happens that I started journaling only a couple of years ago.

The insights from Deborah Thompson are truly an inspiration.

Thank you!
